Acceptable Use Policy

What you may and may not do with OpsBlu data, the API and the website.

Effective 2026-10-22. This policy is part of the OpsBlu Terms of Service. It exists to protect the businesses in our dataset, our other customers, and the long-term usefulness of the data.

What the data is for

  • Business-to-business prospecting: finding local businesses that fit what you sell and contacting them at their published business channels.
  • Market and territory research, lead scoring, and enrichment of lists you already own.
  • Powering software and AI agents that do the above for you or your clients.

Outreach rules

  • Comply with CAN-SPAM, the TCPA, CASL and any other law that applies to how you contact a business: truthful subject lines, a working unsubscribe, your physical address in commercial email, no robocalls or autodialed texts without consent.
  • Honor opt-outs you receive directly, and delete any record within 72 hours of our removal notice.
  • Do not contact businesses about anything unlawful, deceptive or harassing.

Prohibited uses

  • Redistribution: reselling, sublicensing, publishing or sharing raw records outside your organization, or loading them into any product that exposes them to third parties.
  • Competing datasets: using records to build, train or seed a business directory or data product.
  • Circumvention: scraping the website, bypassing rate limits, authentication, spend caps, small-count suppression or removal suppression; probing for records that have been removed.
  • Discriminatory targeting: using any field, or inferences from it, to exclude or target businesses on the basis of the owner’s protected characteristics.
  • Consumer profiling: the data describes businesses. Do not attempt to re-identify individuals or combine it with consumer data to profile people.
  • Misrepresentation: presenting OpsBlu data as your own, or implying OpsBlu endorses your outreach.

Rate limits and fair use

  • Free aggregate endpoints are rate-limited per IP; authenticated endpoints per key. Limits are published on /docs/api. Exceeding them returns a “slow down” response with a retry time.
  • Unusual coverage ratios (for example, pulling every record in a region in a short window) may be throttled or require a conversation with us.

Canary records

The dataset contains a small number of control records that exist only to detect redistribution. Contact to a canary that could only have come from OpsBlu data is evidence of a breach of this policy.

Enforcement

  • First we ask. Most issues are misconfigured automation.
  • We may throttle, suspend keys, or terminate accounts for breaches. Wilful redistribution forfeits unused credits.
  • Report abuse of OpsBlu data to abuse@opsblu.com.
