Troubleshooting

Issue: Can't Change Role

Possible Causes:

Cause Solution
Not an admin yourself Ask another admin to make the change
Last admin in account Add another admin first before demoting
User is Business Admin Change in Business Manager, not Ads Manager
Insufficient permissions Verify you have admin access

Issue: Changes Not Appearing

Solutions:

  1. Hard refresh browser (Ctrl+F5 or Cmd+Shift+R)
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Log out and log back in
  4. Wait 5-10 minutes for propagation
  5. Try different browser

Issue: User Can't Perform New Actions

Troubleshooting:

  1. Verify role change saved correctly
  2. Check user is in correct ad account
  3. Have user log out and back in
  4. Verify specific permissions enabled
  5. Check if asset access also needed

Best Practices

Security

  1. Minimize admins - Only 1-2 admins per account
  2. Review regularly - Audit roles quarterly
  3. Document reasons - Record why changes were made
  4. Approval process - Require manager sign-off
  5. Temporary elevation - Revert elevated access promptly

Process

  1. Plan changes - Don't make impulsive role changes
  2. Communicate first - Notify user before changing
  3. Test after change - Verify new permissions work
  4. Update documentation - Keep access logs current
  5. Schedule review - Add to next audit cycle

Change Management

## Role Change Workflow

1. Request submitted with justification
2. Manager reviews and approves
3. Admin reviews technical feasibility
4. User notified of pending change
5. Change executed

8. Added to next audit review

Common Workflows

Workflow: Quarterly Access Review

1. Export list of all users and roles
2. Review with department managers
3. Identify role changes needed
4. Get approval for changes
5. Execute changes in batch
6. Notify all affected users
7. Document all changes
8. Update next review date

Workflow: Employee Transfer

Employee transferring from Marketing to Analytics team

3. Get approval from both managers
4. Change role to Analyst
5. Remove pixel editing access
6. Verify can still view reports
7. Notify employee and managers
8. Document change
