Adding and Removing Carrd Users

How to add and remove team members in Carrd. Covers invitation workflows, role assignment, access revocation, and user lifecycle management for analytics.

Guide to managing site access in Carrd, including adding collaborators and controlling who can edit your sites.

Prerequisites

To manage collaborators, you must have:

  • Carrd Pro account or higher
  • Site ownership
  • Collaborator feature enabled on your plan

Plan Limits:

  • Free: No collaborators (owner only)
  • Pro Lite: 1 collaborator per site
  • Pro Standard: 3 collaborators per site
  • Pro Plus: 10 collaborators per site

Adding Collaborators to Carrd

Method 1: Add Site Collaborator

Best for: Sharing site editing access

Step 1: Access Site Settings

Dashboard → Select Site → Settings (gear icon) → Collaborators

Step 2: Add Collaborator

  1. Click "Add Collaborator"
  2. Enter email address: Collaborator's Carrd account email
  3. Select permissions:
    • Can edit: Full editing access
    • Can view: Preview only (if available)

Note: Collaborator must have existing Carrd account

Step 3: Send Invitation

  1. Click "Add"
  2. Collaborator notified via Carrd dashboard
  3. They accept invitation
  4. Gain access to edit site

Collaborator Requirements

Must have:

  • Existing Carrd account (free or paid)
  • Verified email address
  • Accept invitation

Access granted:

  • Edit site content
  • Preview changes
  • Publish site (if permission granted)
  • Cannot delete site
  • Cannot manage billing

Managing Existing Collaborators

View Collaborators

Site Settings → Collaborators

Information shown:

  • Email address
  • Permission level
  • Status (Active/Pending)
  • Date added

Remove Collaborator

  1. Settings → Collaborators
  2. Find collaborator
  3. Click "Remove"
  4. Confirm removal

Effect: Immediate access revocation

Removing Collaborators

Pre-Removal Checklist

  • Save pending work: Ensure no unsaved changes
  • Notify collaborator: Professional courtesy
  • Document removal: Note reason and date

Remove Access

Site Settings → Collaborators → Remove

What happens:

  • Cannot access site editor
  • Removed from dashboard
  • No notification sent

Special Scenarios

Owner Transfer

Carrd doesn't support ownership transfer

Workaround:

  1. Collaborator duplicates site to their account
  2. Original owner deletes if needed
  3. Collaborator becomes new owner

Emergency Removal

  1. Remove collaborator immediately
  2. Change account password
  3. Review recent changes
  4. Restore from backup if needed

  • ✓ Verify email before adding
  • ✓ Communicate expectations
  • ✓ Review access regularly

Removing:

  • ✓ Remove when project ends
  • ✓ Notify collaborator

Troubleshooting

Can't Add Collaborator

Check:

  • Plan includes collaborators?
  • Reached collaborator limit?
  • Valid Carrd account?
  • Email address correct?

Collaborator Can't Access

Verify:

  • Invitation accepted?
  • Using correct email?
  • Carrd account active?
  • Browser cache cleared?

Platform Notes

Carrd limitations:

  • Simple collaboration (no granular roles)
  • Email-based invitations
  • Collaborators need Carrd accounts
  • Limited permission options
