Update User Access in Countly

How to modify user roles, permissions, and access levels in Countly. Covers role changes, app access management, API key rotation, and common access.

Updating Permissions

Modify existing user access to reflect role changes.

Change User Role

  1. Go to Management → Users
  2. Click on user to edit
  3. Update role assignment
  4. Save changes

Changes take effect immediately.

Modify App Access

Add Applications

  1. Edit user profile
  2. Go to App Permissions
  3. Check additional applications
  4. Set permission level
  5. Save

Remove Applications

  1. Edit user profile
  2. Uncheck applications
  3. Save changes

Update Profile

Modify user details:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Password reset
  • Language preference

API Key Management

Regenerate Keys

If keys are compromised:

  1. Edit user profile
  2. Delete existing API key
  3. Generate new key
  4. Update integrations with new key

Common Scenarios

Role Promotion

  • User → Global Admin: Add app management
  • Global Admin → Administrator: Full access

Project Changes

  • Add access to new applications
  • Remove access to completed projects

Security Review

  • Audit access levels quarterly
  • Remove unnecessary permissions
