When to Update Access
- User responsibilities expanded and Analyst needs campaign management
- Onboarding complete and Admin should be downgraded to Advertiser
- Agency transitions from setup to ongoing management
- Security review recommends tighter permissions

Changing User Roles
Step 1: Access User Management
- Log in to Quora Ads Manager with Admin credentials
- Go to Account Settings then User Management
Step 2: Modify Role
- Locate the user and note their current role
- Click the role dropdown next to the user
- Select the new role: Admin, Advertiser, or Analyst
- Changes take effect immediately -- the user does not need to accept anything
Permission Escalation
Promoting to Admin -- Grant only when the user genuinely needs billing or user management. Confirm at least one backup Admin exists and the user understands the added responsibilities.
Promoting Analyst to Advertiser -- Appropriate when a reporting user takes on campaign duties. Provide training or documentation for campaign management.
Permission De-Escalation
Downgrading Admin to Advertiser -- Common after setup phases. Verify the user does not own integrations that require Admin and confirm at least one other Admin remains.
Downgrading to Analyst -- Use for contractors finishing a project or stakeholders who only need reporting. Communicate the change in advance.
Audit Trail
Quora Ads Manager does not provide a built-in change log for role modifications. Maintain your own records:
Date: 2026-03-04
User: jane.doe@agency.com
Changed from: Admin → Advertiser
Reason: Pixel setup complete, ongoing management only
Approved by: Account Owner
Common Issues
User cannot edit campaigns after upgrade -- Ask the user to log out and back in. The browser session may cache old permissions.
Role dropdown is not available -- Only Admins can change roles. Verify your own access level first.
Cannot downgrade the last Admin -- Quora requires at least one Admin per account. Invite a second Admin before downgrading the current one.
Best Practices
- Communicate changes before making them
- Document every role change with the date, reason, and approver
- Review access levels quarterly and downgrade anyone with more access than needed
- Start users at the lowest role and upgrade only when required
- After a security incident, restrict affected users to Analyst immediately while investigating
