Best Practices
Adding Contributors
Security-first:
- ✓ Use least privilege (Author vs Editor vs Admin)
- ✓ Add to specific sites only (not all sites)
- ✓ Set clear expectations about role
- ✓ Document reason for access
- ✓ Enable two-step verification
- ✓ Review access after 30 days
Avoid:
- ✗ Giving Admin by default
- ✗ Adding to all sites unnecessarily
- ✗ Sharing owner account
- ✗ No access review process
Removing Contributors
Clean offboarding:
- ✓ Remove access same day as departure
- ✓ Review recent contributions
- ✓ Save important work
- ✓ Notify manually (Weebly doesn't auto-notify)
- ✓ Document removal reason
- ✓ Update team directory
Avoid:
- ✗ Delaying removal
- ✗ Leaving inactive accounts
- ✗ Forgetting to document
- ✗ Not checking for active sessions
Communication
Notify contributors:
- When adding: Welcome email with access details
- Role changes: Explain new permissions
- When removing: Professional farewell, thank them
- Emergency removal: Brief explanation if appropriate
Troubleshooting
