Remove User Access from Clicky

How to revoke user access and offboard team members from Clicky. Covers account deletion, API key revocation, partial access removal, and security.

Removing User Access

Revoke access when team members leave, projects end, or access is no longer needed.

Remove a User

Complete Access Removal

  1. Log into Clicky
  2. Go to PreferencesUsers
  3. Find the user to remove
  4. Click Delete or Remove
  5. Confirm the removal

What Happens

  • User immediately loses access
  • They cannot view any data
  • Their account remains (if they have other sites)
  • No data is deleted

Partial Access Removal

Remove Specific Site Access

Instead of full removal, limit to certain sites:

  1. Edit the user
  2. Uncheck sites they shouldn't access
  3. Keep other sites checked
  4. Save changes

Downgrade Permissions

Reduce access level instead of removing:

  1. Edit the user
  2. Change from Admin to User or View Only
  3. This limits what they can do without removing them

When to Remove Access

Employee Offboarding

When someone leaves your organization:

  1. Remove access immediately
  2. Document the removal
  3. Review if they had access to other tools
  4. Consider changing shared credentials

Project Completion

For temporary or project-based access:

  1. Remove access when project ends
  2. Keep records of who had access and when
  3. Follow up to ensure removal was complete

Security Concerns

If you suspect unauthorized activity:

  1. Remove access immediately
  2. Review recent activity logs
  3. Check for any configuration changes
  4. Consider resetting API keys

Best Practices

Timely Removal

  • Remove access same day as departure
  • Don't wait for IT ticket processing
  • Act immediately on security concerns

Documentation

  • Log when and why access was removed
  • Keep for compliance and audit purposes
  • Note who authorized the removal

Exit Checklist

Include Clicky in your offboarding process:

  • Identify all analytics tools
  • Remove access from each platform
  • Verify removal was successful
  • Update access documentation

Recovery

If access was removed in error:

  1. Re-invite the user
  2. Restore previous permission level
  3. Add back appropriate site access
  4. Verify everything is working
