Pre-Removal Checklist

Before removing a user, especially Admins or Operators:

Step-by-Step: Ads Manager Removal

Step 1: Verify Your Access

  1. Log in to TikTok Ads Manager
  2. Confirm you're an Admin on this account
  3. Select the correct account in top-left dropdown

Step 2: Navigate to User Management

  1. Click Settings (gear icon)
  2. Select User Management
  3. Find the user to remove in the list

Step 3: Remove the User

  1. Click on the user row or the ... menu
  2. Select Remove or Revoke Access
  3. Confirm in the dialog box
  4. User is immediately removed

Step 4: Verify Removal

  1. Refresh the User Management page
  2. Confirm user no longer appears in the list
  3. Take screenshot for audit trail

Step-by-Step: Business Center Removal

Option A: Remove from Specific Account

  1. Go to business.tiktok.com
  2. Navigate to Members
  3. Click on the user's name
  4. Under Assigned Assets, find the ad account
  5. Click Revoke for that account
  6. User loses access to that account only

Option B: Remove Completely

  1. Go to Business Center → Members
  2. Find the user in the list
  3. Click Remove Member
  4. Confirm removal
  5. User loses access to all assets

Special Cases

Removing the Last Admin

You cannot remove yourself if you're the last Admin. Process:

  1. Add another trusted person as Admin
  2. Have them remove your access (or you remove yourself after)
  3. Or: Transfer ownership before removal

Removing Someone Who Created Critical Assets

Before removal:

  1. Go to AssetsEvents (Pixels)
  2. Find pixels they created
  3. Edit each pixel → Change owner to active Admin
  4. Repeat for Audiences, Catalogs, etc.

Removing API Token Holders

If user had API access:

  1. Remove their account access first
  2. Go to AssetsAPI (if accessible)
  3. Revoke any tokens associated with their account
  4. Or: Regenerate all tokens as precaution

Post-Removal Actions

Immediate (Same Day)

  • Screenshot showing user removed
  • Update access log/spreadsheet
  • Close access revocation ticket
  • Notify manager/requester of completion

Within 24 Hours

  • Rotate any shared API tokens
  • Verify no scheduled reports still going to them
  • Check integrations still working (didn't depend on their auth)

Within 1 Week

  • Update internal access documentation
  • Inform security/IT of completion
  • File audit evidence (screenshots, logs)

Emergency Removal Process

For immediate security concerns:

Step 1: Remove Access (Priority)

  1. Log in as Admin immediately
  2. Go to User Management
  3. Remove user without delay
  4. Document reason briefly

Step 2: Secure the Account

  1. Review recent activity (if suspicious)
  2. Check for unauthorized campaigns or changes
  3. Rotate API tokens
  4. Check billing for unauthorized charges

Step 3: Document and Report

  1. Screenshot all evidence
  2. Document timeline of events
  3. Report to security team
  4. File incident report per company policy
